‘Top Gun 2’ Screenwriter Hired

2 min read

Progress continues when it comes to the long gestating Top Gun 2 feature, which will advance the story ahead many, many years to the present. The latest bit of news out of Hollywood about it is that Peter Craig has signed on to write the story for the feature. Crag gained a good bit of fame recently when he co-wrote The Town with Ben Affleck. He comes in after the recently hired but unable to complete the project team of Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz dropped out of the project being produced by Paramount and Jerry Bruckheimer. It seems like he’ll not be using anything from what was planned by the other team as it looks like they didn’t actually write anything.

As for Tom Cruise? He’s certainly not signed on, but it’s not like he isn’t interested. “I said to Tony [Scott, ‘Top Gun’s’ director] I want to make another movie with him. He and I haven’t made a film since ‘Days of Thunder,'” Cruise told MTV. “Tony and I and Jerry, we never thought that we would do it again. Then they started to come to us with these ideas of where it is now. I thought, ‘Wow, that would be … what we could do now.'”
