Ben Kingsley Joins ‘Ender’s Game’

2 min read

Casting has been a bit quiet as of late on Ender’s Game, but that changed today as it’s been announced that Ben Kingsley will be joining the cast by taking on the role of Mazer Rackham. In addition to this, Brandon Soo Hoo is coming on board to take on the role of Fly Molo, one of the other young military cadets that the novel deals with. The two will join the existing cast of Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Stanfield and Abigail Breslin that’s due out on March 15th, 2013. The feature is set to start filming in New Orleans in February of this year.

Spoiler Character Concept: The character of Mazer Rackham in the books is described as as a half-Māori captain who singlehandedly stopped the Second Invasion by realizing that the Buggers are a hive mind. Due to his inability to pass on his knowledge, he was forced to spend fifty years at relativistic speeds (eight years to Rackham) so that he could train the next commander—Ender Wiggin. After the end of the war, he joins Graff’s crusade to keep the human race from destroying itself.
