Sony Bankrolling Animated ‘Spider-Man’ Feature Film

1 min read

Ultimtae Spider-Man JapanWith Sony and Marvel now working together more in regards to Spider-Man, one of the things we heard was talk about Chris Miller and Phil Lord being involved potentially somehow. While things are shifting away from them in regards to the live action franchise, it looks like they’re going to make their stamp on the animated side. With plans for a July 20th, 2018 release, Sony will be bringing out an animated Spider-Man film with the two of them masterminding and writing the treatment for it. Details are non-existent other than the date and their involvement, but it at least feels like it’s something that could work simply because Miller and Lord manage to succeed where others fail. With their work on the Jump Street movies being quite the surprise, their adaptation of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and then The LEGO Movie being what it is, as well as The Last Man On Earth TV series, this has some real potential.

It’s also going to be freed of other constraints because it will not be connected to anything on the live action side, as this will exist independently.
