Date A Live VisualSet with a formal release date of August 22nd, 2015, Kadokawa is doing some new promotion this weekend for the upcoming film Date-A-Live: Mayuri Judgement. The company has brought out the first TV spot for it as well as the new 90 second teaser that showcases a lot of the animation. The film is directed by Keitaro Motonaga based on the screenplay by Hideki Shirane. Animated at Production IMS, Koji Watanabe serves as the chief animation director while Satoshi Ishino and Koji Watanabe are on board for character designs. The project is based on the original works by Koushi Tachibana and Tsuanko.

FUNimation recently announced their acquisition of the second season of the series, and they’ve previously licensed and released the first season. You can read our review here. They simulcast the second season as well this past spring.

Original property concept: In a world devastated by mysterious Spatial Quakes, Shidoh isn’t what you’d expect in a hero. He’s an average Joe who gets bossed around by his adorable little sister and mocked by the popular girls at his school. You’d definitely pick him last for dodge ball, but when it comes to saving the planet from imminent destruction, Shidoh’s got one thing going for him: intergalactic hotties can’t keep their hands off him!

When the secret to stopping the Spatial Quakes turns out to be romancing the extraterrestrial Spirits responsible for all the chaos, Shidoh the loveable loser becomes the hero of all humanity. For every Spirit he makes out with, mankind breathes a little bit easier. Kiss the girls – save the world. That name of the game is driving the space babes crazy, and nobody does it better than Shidoh!
