Originally in theaters in Japan back in 2013 and picked up by Media Blasters, Crunchyroll is now streaming the live action 009-1 feature film. The feature stars Mayuko Iwasa. Minehiro Kinomoto, Nao Nagasawa, Mao Ichimichi, Shizuka Midorikawa, Naoto Takenaka, and Aya Sugimoto. It was directed by Koichi Sakamoto and written by Keiichi Hasegawa.
The anime series was released in the US through ADV Films and was eventually distributed later on by FUNimation in a SAVE form on DVD. Check out our review of that here.
Plot Concept: In the near future, the world is divided into opposing Western and Eastern blocs. J-Country is a border war zone for the ongoing conflict between the two superpowers. Mylene is 009, a beautiful cyborg spy working for the Western block’s “00” division. Her latest assignment is to expose a human trafficking operation and rescue an abducted scientist who created the Faust Project (a covert advanced cyborg technology).
