Viz Media is enjoying great success with My Hero Academia and there’s some spinoff material out of Japan that they’re working with as well. The spin-off property with My Hero Academia: Vigilantes comes from Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court. The property got underway in 2016 and has fifteen volumes out as it wrapped up on May 28th, 2022, in Japan.
It’s no surprise that they’re looking to expand beyond the main property, as this series was slotted for an anime adaptation as of December 2024. The property saw Kenichi Suzuki directing it from the scripts overseen by Yosuke Kuroda of the main anime series. Takahiko Yoshida is working on the character designs with BONES FILM on the animation production.
With an April 7th, 2025, premiere date for the series, the production has rolled out the first preview of the tenth episode due out on June 7th, 2025. The series features “Kekka Alright” by Kocchi no Kento as the opening and “Speed” by yutori as the ending.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Ikumi Hasegawa as Kazuho Haneyama / Pop Step
- Shūichirō Umeda as Koichi Haimawari / The Crawler
- Yasuhiro Mamiya as Iwao Oguro / Knuckleduster
- Kenta Miyake as Toshinori Yagi/All Might
- Junichi Suwabe as Shota Aizawa/Eraser Head
- Hiroyuki Yoshino as Hizashi Yamada/Present Mic
- Akeno Watanabe as Nemuri Kayama/Midnight
- Masamichi Kitada as Tensei Iida/Ingenium

Plot Concept: Koichi and his “friends”—Kazuho, a.k.a. Pop Step, and the mysterious Knuckleduster—have teamed up to protect their neighborhood (unofficially of course). But even petty criminals with Quirks can be dangerous, and taking them on shows Koichi that he’d better not underestimate them. Sizing up the opposition is important, especially when some of the villains are definitely out of Koichi’s league and more sinister threats lurk in the shadows…
