While Shawn Levy has been attached to a Star Wars project for some time, things have come together and are looking to move fast at this point with Star Wars: Starfighter. With Levy appearing at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, the film has set a May 28th, 2027 theatrical release from the studio and brought out Ryan Gosling as being formally attached to the project now with filming set to start soon.
As pre-production continues, a new bit of casting news has landed with the confirmation of Mia Goth joining the project in an undisclosed role.
Said Levy, “There are many rumors, some true, some not. … This is not a prequel, this is not a sequel. It’s a new adventure.”
The film was written by Jonathan Tropper for the last two years and that in itself is exciting as their work on Banshee was excellent and their latest work just hit Apple TV+ with the Jon Hamm series Your Friends & Neighbors.

Plot Concept: The film takes place five years after Rise of Skywalker.
