An interesting new project is coming in the world of Gundam with the creative folks behind Evangelion and FLCL coming together for Gundam GQuuuuuuX. The project saw a limited theatrical release of a few episodes on January 17th, 2025, ahead of its spring 2025 TV debut. It has Kazuya Tsurumaki directing it from the scripts by Hideaki Anno and Yoji Enokido. The character designs come from Take of Pokemon Sun and Moon with Sunrise and Khara on the animation production. Check out our thoughts on the theatrical release edition here.
The show saw its April 8th, 2025, premiere date with Prime Video bringing it out worldwide in over 240 countries. The promotional push for it continues as it’s now nabbed tow covers that are hitting the newstand in Japan shortly with Animage and Animedia
The Japanese cast includes Shimba Tsuchiya as Shūji Itō, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Amate Yuzuriha / Machu, Yui Ishikawa as Nyaan, Mariya Ise as Annqi, Yukitoshi Tokumoto as Jezzi, Kōsuke Echigoya as Pomeranian, Shōya Chiba as Nabu, Yuusuke Nagano as Kaine, Rie Kugimiya as HARO, Shinji Kawada as Challia Bull, Seiichirō Yamashita as Xavier Olivette, Akane Fujita as Comoli Harcourt, Yūki Shin as Char Aznable, Kōsuke Gotō as Denim, and Taichi Takeda as Dren.
The show launched with an English dub that was directed by Michael Sinterniklaas and Stephanie Sheh with a cast that includes Thea Saccoliti as Amate Yuzuriha, Anairis Q as Nyaan, Ry McKeand as Xavier Olivette, Fajer Kaisi as Challia Bull, Cat Protano as Comoli Harcourt, Alyson Leigh Rosenfeld as Rassit, Eddy Lee as Kowal, Jessica DiCicco as Sepha, Jon Allen as Benowa, Meredith Zeitlin as Annqi, Jack De Sena as Jezzi, Harley Yeager as Nabu, Casey Mongillo as Kaine, Ellie Dritch as Haro, Alex Bankier as Arraga, and Erik Braa as Raggucci.

Plot Concept: Amate Yuzuriha, a high school girl living peacefully in a space colony floating in space, meets a war refugee girl named Nyaan and becomes embroiled in an illegal mobile suit dueling competition called “Clan Battle.”
Amate, who goes by the entry name “Machu”, GQuuuuuX Sieg Axe, he drives his car and throws himself into the fierce battles every day.
At the same time, an unidentified mobile suit called Gundam, which is being pursued by both the space military and the police, and its pilot, a young boy named Shuuji, appear before her.
