After teasing an announcement recently, we learned in October 2024 that some of Yama Wayama’s manga works are getting anime adaptations at the same time. One of those is the Muchū sa, Kimi ni series that’s released in English through Yen Press as Captivated, by You.

With the show being tied to the Let’s Go, Karaoke! series with a lot of the initial dialogue about them airing at the same time, it’s now been cleared up that they’re not exactly running at the same time. This series will debut on August 21st, 2025, in the same time slot as the other series once it wraps up what looks to be a shorter run.

The adaptation has Asami Nakatani directing it with Yukiko Tsuakahara as the assistant director. Yoshimi Narita is handling the scripts with Mai Matsuura as the character designer. Doga Kobo is handling the animation adaptation.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Kenshō Ono as Miyoshi Hayashi
  • Kōki Uchiyama as Jōji Ema
  • Nobuhiko Okamoto as Akira Nikaidō
  • Yūki Ono as Yūichi Medaka

The manga for this began in 2019 and saw a live-action film in 2024.

Please note: We are doing separate pieces on the two Yama Wayama anime projects so people looking for information on one of them don’t have to look through a double-show article to find what they’re looking for and to highlight each project on its own.

In a world shaped by conformity, Hayashi is refreshingly and unapologetically true to himself. Conversely, Nikaidou has worked very hard to perfect a gloomy, dour façade that keeps his classmates far, far away. While much of the school regards Nikaidou as a bad omen, one student catches a glimpse behind the mask and-undeterred by rumors of bad luck and supernatural powers-begins to pick away Nikaidou’s carefully crafted persona…
