The next property in the Precure franchise is in the works with the November 2024 announcement of You and Idol Precure. The franchise is wrapped up Wonderful Precure!, and saw Mirai Days starting up in January 2025.
While the new series saw a February 2nd, 2025, debut as the next entry in the franchise, a theatrical film is also in the works. The main focus is on the TV series as the first preview of the eighteenth episode has arrived ahead of its June 8th, 2025, debut below.
The series has Chiako Kon as the series director, working from the scripts overseen by Yoichi Kato. Miho Sugimoto is handling the character designs with animation production once again by Toei Animation.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Misato Matsuoka as Cure Idol/Uta Sakura
- Minami Takahashi as Cure Wink/Nana Aokaze
- Natsumi Takamori as Cure Kyun-Kyun/Kororo Shigure
The series features the opening theme song “Kimi to Idol Precure♪ Light Up!” performed by Ami Ishii, Akane Kumada, and Chihaya Yoshitake while the ending theme song “Trio Dreams” is by the three leads in-character.
Plot Concept: The story begins in Hanamichi Town with Uta Sakura, a second-year middle school student who loves to sing. One day while walking her dog Kyū-chan, she discovers a giant peach-like object floating down the river and encounters Purirun, a cute fairy who came looking for the legendary savior Idol Precure. Purirun’s home Kira-Kira Land is threatened by the Chokkiri gang’s boss Darkiine. Just then, the “sparkle” of Hanamichi Town’s residents is stolen by the Chokkiri gang. Uta proclaims, “I want to sparkle! With my song!” and transforms into Cure Idol.
