We learned in April 2024 that the light novel series Teogonia is getting an anime adaptation. Kunihiro Mori is directing it from the series composition by Tomoyasu Okubo. Koichiro Kawano is handling the character designs with Asahi Production on the animation.

With Crunchyroll already on board to stream the series previously, the spring 2025 premiere saw an April 11th, 2025, date. Now, the production has rolled out the first preview of the ninth episode ahead of its June 5th, 2025, premiere.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Mutsumi Tamura as Kai
  • Kana Hanazawa as Jose
  • Atsushi Miyauchi as Vegin
  • Banjō Ginga as Valley God
  • Hana Tamegai as Alue
  • Hiroshi Naka as Polek
  • Manaka Iwami as Elsa
  • Masaya Fukunishi as Manso
  • Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Orha

The opening theme song is “Shoudou” as performed by Aimi Noda, and the ending theme song is “Tsuki to Boku to Atarashii Jibun” by STU48.

The light novel series comes from Tsuaka Tanimai which began in 2017. A published version is produced through Shufu to Seikaatsu Sha where they have three volumes out so far with illustrations by Koichiro Kawano. A manga adaptation got underway in 2018 from Shunsuke Aoyama which has eleven volumes to date.

Hakuhodo DY Music and DMM Pictures are producing it. J-Novel Club releases the series in English.

Plot Concept: In the harsh region known as the borderlands, humans must fight an endless battle against demi-human creatures that come at them relentlessly, intent on taking their land and their gods. A young boy named Kai, fighting to defend his village, sustains a life-threatening injury that causes him to regain memories from a past life. If you’re not a guardian bearer, it’s like you’re playing life on hard mode… Kai’s newfound knowledge gives him a new sense of the unfair “rule set” that governs the world around him. One thing is clear: For those without a god to serve as their guardian, life is a constant struggle for survival. Thus begins the epic tale of a young boy’s ascent into a vast world filled with magic, bloodshed, and mystery.
