A new anime project was announced in July 2023 with the adaptation of the manga Okinawa de Suki ni Natta Ko ga Hougen Sugite Tsura Sugiru. With a January 2025 debut set for the project, Crunchyroll picked up the show for the season, where it’ll be available to viewers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, India, and Southeast Asia.
With a January 4th, 2025, premiere date, the Japanese home video releases have been set by distributor Happinet. The twelve-episode series is getting a two-volume release on Blu-ray only, where each set is priced at 18,000 yen.
With the second set coming up at the start of July 2025, we had some preview artwork in small form for the first volume, but now we have larger versions and the full packaging spread for the first time below. Check out the full schedule and known details below.
The series has Shin Itagaki as the chief director with Shingo Tanabe as the director working from the series composition both of them worked on. Tomohiro Yoshida is handling the character designs with Millepensee on the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Akari Kitō as Hina “Hiinaa” Kyan, Fairouz Ai as Kana “Kaanaa” Higa, Takeo Ōtsuka as Teruaki “Teeruu” Nakamura, Etsuko Kozakura as Oki Memo Shisha, Tarusuke Shingaki as the narrator, Shino Shimoji as Yae Agena, Shugo Nakamura as Tensuke Uema, Kentarō Kumagai as Isao Shimoji, Yamato Kinjo as Tetsu Higa, Miyuri Shimabukuro as Suzu Higa, Risa Tsumugi as Naoya Higa, and Yuko Gibu as Sachiko Kyan.
The series features the opening theme song is “Dai Dai Daisuki” performed by Uruma city band HY.
The title translates as The Girl I Fell For in Okinawa Has a Difficult Dialect and comes from Egumi Sora which began in 2020 as serialized on Kurage Bunch. It has seven volumes out so far and is listed as ongoing.
