
Cygames has a new original anime project in the works for 2025 that has gone live today with the announcement of Necronomico and the Cosmic Horror Show. The series has Masato Matsune directing it from the scripts and original story by Makoto Uezu. Jiro Suzuki is on board for the character designs with Studio Gokumi on the animation production.
The production has now updated with a July 1st, 2025, premiere date that comes with some cast updates, a new promo, and a new key visual. Additionally, it also revealed the theme songs with the opening theme song “Kakushō-ron” by Ryushen, and the ending theme song “PANDORA feat. Noa” by Vell.

The Japanese cast includes:
- Manaka Iwami as Mayu Mayusaka
- Nana Hasumi as Kanna Kagurazaka
- Riho Sugiyama as Miko Kurono
- Reiji Kawashima as Eita
- Atsushi Tamaru as Seishirō Sano
- Hazuki Ogino as Tsugumi Tsukasa
- Taichi Ichikawa as NAO-KICHI
- Kyōhei Natsume as Hiroshi Takashiro
- Hiroki Yasumoto as Game Master
- Sayumi Watabe as Kei Amakusa
The newly added cast includes:
- Manaka Iwami as the princess Cthulhu
- Kazuyuki Okitsu as Hastur
- Katsuyuki Konishi as Ghatanothoa
- Ayasa Itō as Gua

Plot Concept: Miko Kurono, also known as “Necronomico,” starts doing her dream job as a live streamer after graduating from junior high school. Miko spends her days with her childhood friend Mayu Mayusaka and rival Kanna Kagurazaka. One day, they receive an offer to try a new virtual reality (VR) game that will change their lives.
