Known originally as Astilbe – Funazoko no Hanayome, the first volume of Astilbe – The Bride at the Bilge arrived in Japan back in December 2024. The manga comes from creator Nozomi Suzuki, which began earlier this year in JOUR from Futabasha.
With the manga ongoing, the property has now scored the upcoming 7/2025 cover of the magazine as you can see below.
Suzuki made their debut in 2018 with Ao ni, Furer,u which ran for seven volumes total and saw an English release through MangaPlaza.

Plot Concept: “I sold myself that day…”
A man and a woman kiss in a foreign city during the Warring States period. This is the story of a couple who, swept away by the rough waves of history, pursued freedom and loved each other to the end. The husband is a Portuguese merchant. The wife is Japanese, and a “slave.” A headstrong girl, Tatsu, chases after Shino, who she grew up with like family, and boards a trading ship in Nagasaki Port, where she meets Leo, a fearless young man. What will Tatsu do when faced with the women who are forced to the bottom of the ship as slaves and hurt by the crew’s vile acts?!
