One of the more entertaining series of the 21st century when it comes to anime is the Gurren Lagann property. We’ve seen it get a few releases here and there and streaming across multiple locations. Back in 2023, Studio Trigger revealed plans for the 15th-anniversary showings of it in Japan, North America, and Taiwan later this year with 2D and 4D showings. A new 4K UHD release came out in Japan on September 27th, 2023.
The North American side of it got a bit of attention with a 2024 release and now it looks like the films are making their way to the UK as well. Anime Limited has confirmed that a collector’s edition release is in the woks for there but were unable to provide a timeline or details on it – though it’s expected to mirror the North American release.

Plot concept: This is the story of a man who has yet to realize what destiny holds in store for him…
In the distant future, mankind has lived quietly and restlessly underground for hundreds of years, subject to earthquakes and cave-ins. Living in one such village are two young men: Simon, who is shy and naive; and Kamina, who believes in the existence of a “surface” world above their heads. The destiny of these two starts moving drastically when the ceiling of their village falls in, and a gigantic “Gunmen” and a beautiful girl named Yoko, wielding a superconductive rifle, come from the surface. Together, Kamina, Simon, and Yoko ride the mecha “Lagann” that Simon digs out of the ground, and fly up to the surface!
