Another light novel series found itself on the track to getting a TV anime adaptation with the My Happy Marriage property. The announcement in April 2022 provided some details and we learned earlier this year that it’s Netflix-bound and saw a July 5th, 2023 premiere date for it. The second season was scheduled for a January 2025 premiere, and it has Masayuki Kojima serving as a director alongside Takehiro Kubota from the first season. Ami Sato is overseeing the scripts, and Shoko Yasuda is handling the character designs with Kiojnema Citrus on the animation production.

Through Netflix, the second season saw a January 6th, 2025, premiere date, and now the Japanese production side has confirmed that another anime project is in the works – but did not confirm what type of format it’ll take or a timeline. Check out the teaser and visual for it.

The Japanese cast includes Reina Ueda as Miyo Saimori, Kaito Ishikawa as Kiyoka Kudo, Ayane Sakura as Kaya Saimori, Kōtarō Nishiyama as Kōji Tatsuishi, Houko Kuwashima as Yurie, Hiro Shimono as Yoshito Godō, Ryohei Kimura as Arata Tsuruki, Toshinari Fukamachi as Kazuyuki Tatsuishi, Hiro Shimono as Yoshito Godo, Kaito Ishikawa as Kiyoka Kudo, and Akira Ishida as Takaihito.

The newly added cast for the second season includes Ryōtarō Okiayu as Tadakiyo Kudo, Kikuko Inoue as Fuyu Kudo, Haruka Tomatsu as Karouko Jinnouchi, and Yūya Uchida as Naoshi Usui.

For the first season, Riria performed the opening theme song “Anata no Soba ni” and Kashitarō Itō will perform the ending theme song “Vita Philosophica.” The second season also has a new ending song with “Tsukikage Okuri” by Kashitaro Ito and the opening song “Shiawase no Yakusoku” by Riria.

Known originally as Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon, the series is localized as My Happy Marriage with Yen Press bringing out the light novels in English and Square Enix Manga handling the manga. The property comes from writer Akumi Agitogi and artist Rito Kousaka which began in 2018 as serialized in Gangan Online magazine. It has three volumes released so far and is ongoing. The light novel began in January 2019 and has five volumes released so far and is ongoing.

Plot Concept: Born to a noble family, Miyo is raised by her abusive stepmother and married off to Kiyoka, a soldier so heartless his prior fiancées fled within three days into their engagement. With no home to return to, Miyo slowly starts to open her heart to her cold and pale husband-to-be, despite their rocky introduction… This might just be her chance at finding true love and happiness.

Combining an irresistible supernatural story, filled with drama and romance, with breathtaking illustrations, My Happy Marriage is a light novel series that has all the charm and appeal of shojo manga. My Happy Marriage is a welcome addition to light novel fans who have been eager for more great works of romantic slice-of-life.
