Tubi Adds ‘Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within’ Streaming

The Earth is infested with alien spirits, and mankind faces total extinction.

It was an age ago, and the whole digital character film presentation thing has changed immensely since then, but Sony Pictures is back with a new streaming option for the 2001 feature film Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. The film has now been added to the Tubi service here where it can be checked out for free.

The film last saw some attention when it got a new 4K UHD/Blu-ray/Digital combo release on November 16th, 2021, priced at $30.99 for the two-disc set.

It comes with Hungarian, Thai, Czech, German, Italian, French, Spanish language options in addition to the English while subtitles include Dutch, Hungarian, Norwegian, Czech, Mandarin Chinese, Thai, Slovene, Romanian, Russian, Arabic, Korean, Italian, Finnish, Swedish, German, Icelandic, Danish, English, Portuguese, French, Polish, Croatian, Turkish, Spanish, Hindi, Greek, and Hebrew.

The film was directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi and Motonori Sakakibara based on the screenplay by Hironobu Sakaguchi, Al Reinert, and Jeff Vintar.

The cast includes Ming-Na Wen, Alec Baldwin, Ving Rhames, Steve Buscemi, Peri Gilpin, and Donald Sutherland.

Plot Concept: The year is 2065 AD. The Earth is infested with alien spirits, and mankind faces total extinction. Led by a strange dream and guided by her mentor, Dr. Sid, scientist Aki Ross struggles to collect the eight spirits in the hope of creating a force powerful enough to destroy the alien presence and pure enough to protect the planet. With the aid of the Deep Eyes Squadron, Aki must save the Earth from its darkest hate and unleash the spirits within. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is the groundbreaking new CGI film from the creators of the Final Fantasy Video Game Franchise.
