Known originally as Chūzenji-sensei Mononoke Kōgiroku: Sensei ga Nazo o Toite Shimaukara, a TV anime adaptation has been announced for The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei: He Just Solves All the Mysteries that will arrive in 2025. The manga is a prequel to the novel series Hyakki Yako. The anime adaptation has lined up Chihiro Kuman to direct it from the scripts written and supervised by Atsushi Oka. Masahiko Suzuki is handling the character designs with 100Studio on the animation production.
With an April 7th date premiere date set recently, the production has now expanded on the cast with four more members. The newly added cast includes:
- Saki Ogasawara as Shizue Minoda
- Yukiyo Fujii as Hanadai Renjō
- Hikaru Akao as Ryōko Ogawa
- Wataru Hatano as Takeshi “Take-bō” Kōta
The Japanese cast includes:
- Kaori Maeda as Kana Kusakabe
- Katsuyuki Konishi as Akihiko Chuzenji
- Shinnosuke Tachibana as Reijirō Enokizu
- Shūya Nishiji as Tatsumi Sekiguchi
- Takanori Hoshino as Shūtarō Kiba
- Ai Furihata as Atsuko Chuzenji
- Ai Kayano as Chizuko Chuzenji
The series features the opening theme song “She Is Now in the Labyrinth” performed by HoneyWorks feat. KAF and the ending theme song ‘Things You Don’t Know” performed by Sizuk.
The manga began in 2109 by Aki Shimizu as serialized through Shonen Edge Magazine and then Comic DAys. It has ten volumes out in Japan as of October 2024.

Our setting is in Tokyo in 1948, just right after the war. Kanna Kusakabe had just become a second-year at a high school when she meets the new language teacher, Akihiko Chuzenji.
Mysterious supernatural things keep happening around Kanna. Once again today, Kanna is going to open the doors to the library prep room to seek help from the surly Chuzenji-sensei who is waiting inside.
A high school supernatural mystery featuring the unlikely duo between a teacher and a high school girl is about to begin!
