Fans of the Mieruko-chan manga series from Tomoki Izumi had a pretty solid run for the show with it being adapted back in 2022 and they’ve also had the manga coming out in English at a pretty good pace as well. In October 2024 we learned that a new live-action film is in the works for a summer 2025 release in Japan.

The new film has set Nanoka Hara as the lead, Miko Yotsuya, and released a promotional image and teaser below. The film has Yoshihiro Nakamura directing it and handling the screenplay.

The latest update on the project has a new cast interview promo being released that adds three more actors to the confirmed list with:

  • Rinka Kumada as Hana Yurikawa
  • naenano as Yuria Niguredo
  • Coki-Yamashita as Akio Gondō

The manga from Tomoki Izumi began in 2018 on ComicWalker and has ten volumes released so far. Yen Press picked it up in 2020 and has released nine volumes released.

Check out the official site and Twitter.

Plot Concept: One day, Miko suddenly started seeing grotesque beings that others couldn’t. Her response was not to run, not to face them, but to do everything she can to completely ignore them! Can she keep a straight face and continue her day-to-day life while surrounded by horrifying monsters?
