A new anime adaptation was announced in January 2024 with the Tono to Inu manga property getting the nod. Details are still light with this project in terms of staff but the production has updated with the main cast members and a key visual below. With an October 2024 premiere date set previously, the four leads announced will all be playing the main human character of Tono at different times and ways.
The Japanese cast includes:

The show saw an October 10th, 2024 debut and has its various versions. With the holidays here and the second cour getting underway, the schedule has now been updated along with a key visual via AIR with:

The manga comes from Rie Nishida which began in March 2021 on Comic Polaris for Flex Comix. The manga has its third volume out in Japan in February 2024.

Plot Concept: The manga centers on a fearsome samurai, once feared on the battlefield for his great skill. But after his clan came to ruin, he has since lived a quiet and humble life, his intimidating face the only proof of his previous warrior life. One day, he encounters a curious corgi dog, who he is immediately taken with, and they begin a life together.
