The summer 2021 anime project for Love Live! Superstar!! was been in development for a good bit of time and it did well during its debut while finding multiple points of distribution overseas. We learned back in October 2021 that a second season was in the works and it made a summer 2022 debut. When the season wrapped, a third season was announced that debuted on October 6th, 2023.
The third season home video releases are being handle by Bandai Namco and they’ve set a six-volume release for it. All six volumes are listed as limited editions and are on Blu-ray only priced at 7,000 yen. It does look like the limited edition element of this are the event ticket applications. This series is directed by Takahiko Kyogoku with writer Jukki Hanada. Atsushi Saito is handling the character design adaptations for it.
The Japanese cast includes Sayuri Date as Kanon Shibuya, Liyuu as Tang Keke, Nako Misaki as Chisato Arashi, Naomi Payton as Sumire Heanna, Nagisa Aoyama as Ren Hazuki, Nozomi Suzuhara as Kinako Sakurakōji, Akane Yabushima as Mei Yoneme, Wakana Ōkuma as Shiki Wakana, and Aya Emori as Natsumi Onitsuka.
Plot Concept: Yuigaoka Girls High School is a newly established school that lies between the Omotesando, Harajuku, and Aoyama neighborhoods of Tokyo. The story centers on its first batch of students. With no history, no upperclassmen or alumni, and no reputation, it is a school full of unknowns.
Five girls, among them Kanon Shibuya, have a fateful encounter with school idols. Kanon decides, “I love singing. I want to make something come true with song!” Many feelings converge upon a star that has only started to grow. The future is blank and full of possibility for these girls, and their story that everyone will make possible has only just begun. Soar with your wings, our Love Live!
