A new manga series launched this past June 2024 with the arrival of Sidekick – Kichijoji Police Station Community Safety Division in Japan. The manga has debuted on the Big Comic Web service recently and comes from creators Katsunari Mano and Sadayasu.
Now, the first compiled volume is coming up on November 12th, 2024 and you can see the cover artwork below. First volumes can go a long way toward determining if a series keeps going or ends up getting canceled quickly.
The project is Mano’s first work while Sadayasu debuted in 2013 with Ousamatachi no Viking which ran for nineteen volumes.
Big Comic is a semimonthly seinen manga magazine that has been published since February 1968 by Shogakukan in Japan.
Plot Concept: The suspense and action manga centers on the Community Safety Division of the police department, which handles all the troublesome cases. Kinpei, a new police officer fired from the criminal division because he is not good with corpses, gets transferred to the Community Safety Division. He gets teamed up with Kinojou, the division’s most dangerous senior investigator. The duo probes into cases through unconventional investigations, and Kinpei eventually discovers Kinojou’s “grief.”
