With the three seasons of Star Wars: The Mandalorian out there as well as projects like Bad Batch and Andor as well as the Book of Boba Fett, Disney has made it clear that they hold these shows on the streamer to encourage people to subscribe in order to have access to them. That, naturally, cuts off a lot of people without broadband or have to deal with streaming caps. And it also hurts a segment of the audience that cares about A/V quality as there’s a difference between streaming 1080p and a Blu-ray release.
Last year, Disney finally got around to breaking the logjam and the season one and season two sets were scheduled for a December 12th, 2023 date for The Mandalorian.
Now, the third season is getting its attention with a December 3rd, 2024 release set that will be available for preorder on October 31st, 2024. We’ll have more details then on it but the set will include all the episodes of the third season plus these extras.
- Honoring the Magistrate: A Tribute to Carl Weathers — Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni pay tribute to Carl Weathers, the unforgettable talent behind Greef Karga.
- Galactic Legacy: The Creatures and Droids of The Mandalorian — Discover the secrets of Season Three’s memorable creatures and droids with the artists who bring them to life.
- Forging the Covert: Part Three — Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and the filmmakers explore the expanding world of Season Three’s Mandalorian warriors.
Check out the packaging below.
The director’s list for this season includes Jon Favreau, Peyton Reed, Carl Weathers, Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Dave Filoni, and Sam Hargrave.
Plot Concept: After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
