Things are shaping up well for the Kenkaku Shoubai manga as it’s getting the upcoming 11/2024 marked installment cover of Comic Ran. The manga comes from writer Shoutarou Ikenami and artist Yasuichi Ooshima which began in 2009 and has forty-nine volumes so far. The fiftieth volume has been solicited for a November 27th, 2024 release as well, making for a rich and deep series to dive into.
Ikenami made their debut in 1993 with Oniheki Hankachou and has had a dozen titles since then while Ooshima, whose wife and two daughters are mangaka as well, debuted in 1982 with Yuuta ya Naika and has almost three dozen titles to their name.
Comic Ran is a monthly jidaigekiga magazine which began in 1998 from Leed Publishing Co., Ltd.
Plot Concept: This historical drama series is based on a successful Samurai novel series by Ikenami Shoutarou about an elderly swordsman in Edo tackling various incidents in the capital of medieval Japan together with his companions.
