We learned in the November 2023 installment of Be Love magazine that the manga series Nina the Starry Bride is getting an anime adaptation. The series saw a number of details previously and was also set for an October 10th, 2024 debut in Japan. Crunchyroll announced the pickup of the series for its fall schedule with plans for it to be available to subscribers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.

With an October 7th, 2024 premiere through ABEMA for streaming, Crunchyroll recently announced their acquisition of the show for the season and added an English-subtitled trailer for it as well.

The show has Kenichiro Komaya directing it from the series composition and scripts by Yuka Yamada. Kyotko Taketani is on board for the character designs with Signa.MD on the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Minami Tanaka as Nina
  • Yuuichirou Umehara as Azure
  • Kouki Uchiyama as Sett
  • Nao Toyama as Mufulumu
  • Seiichirou Yamashita as Yoru
  • Kaito Ishikawa as Bidou
  • Shun Horie as Toth

The opening is “Nina” by Mayaa Sakamoto while the ending theme song is “Messages from the Star” by Nao Toyama.

Plot Concept: Nina, a girl living as an orphan in the Fortna Castle Town, happens to have eyes of the same deep blue hue as lapis lazuli—just like the God of the Stars. They’re also the same color as the eyes of the recently deceased Princess Alisha. For that reason, when the second prince of Fortna, Azure, discovers Nina, he ordains that she will live as the princess in Alisha’s place. As substitute princess and Priestess of the Stars, Nina is obligated to become the false bride of Sett, the first prince of the large neighboring nation of Galgada after the third month has passed. Despite being at the mercy of fate, Nina is just happy to feel needed by someone. What is it that her open, honest eyes see? The destinies of all the players on this stage begin to move when they make up their minds to protect the ones they love!
