A new anime adaptation was announced in March 2023 with the manga series Gushing Over Magical Girls getting the nod. No details were revealed about the adaptation at the time though we learned a bit later that it’s set for a January 2024 debut. With the show detailed and updated regularly, it saw a January 3rd, 2024 premiere date. Recently, German distributor AniMoon Publishing set an August 2024 release for the first volume on DVD and Blu-ray and that has them now bringing out their first German dubbed clip for it below!

As noted previously, the series saw three different versions: the TV broadcast version, the “gushing” version on streaming services, and the “ultra-gushing” version on Blu-ray Disc and DVD. The TV broadcast version will censor the audio and visuals, the “gushing” version will censor the audio and some of the visuals, and the “ultra-gushing” version will not censor either.
The series is directed by Misato Suzuki and Atsushi Otsuki from the series composition by Noboru Kimura. Yasuka OtakiI is handling the character designs while Asahi Production is handling the animation.

The manga by Akihiro Ononaka began in 2019 as serialized in Manga Life Storia before moving to the website and has nine volumes out so far. The manga is released in English by J-Novel Club.

Plot Concept: Hiragi Utena is a major fangirl of the magical girls protecting her city, so when she has the chance to become one herself, she leaps at the chance to join their technicolor ranks… but when she transforms, she learns she isn’t fated to be a daring do-gooder, but rather a villain on the side of evil! At first she tries to quit her new gig as the leader of the local baddies, but she quickly realizes she enjoys it and is a total natural at tormenting the magical girls she loves so much. With both a bang and a whimper, Hiragi’s journey as a magical-girl-tormenting sadist has begun!
