The summer 2019 anime series Given was part of the Noitamina block on Fuji TV and Crunchyroll brought it out that season for a simulcast as well as eventually the feature film. The series is based on the manga by Natsuki Kizu which is serialized in Cheri+ magazine. It began in December 2017 and has five volumes out as of April 2019 when it aired.
We learned back in March 2023 that a sequel film had been given the green light as the original work was coming to a close and in August 2023 learned that the film is actually going to be a two-part film. The first film will be titled Eiga Given: Hiragi mix and it saw a January 27th, 2023 release. The second film is titled Eiga Given: Umi e, aka Given the Movie: To the Sea and is planned for a fall 2024 premiere with the date to be revealed later.
That later has now arrived as it’s been scheduled for a September 20th, 2024 release in Japan that has come alongside a new teaser trailer and a poster for it.

The show has Hikaru Yamaguchi directing based on the scripts overseen by Yuniko Ayana. Studio Lerche worked on the animation production for it.
The Japanese cast includes Shougo Yano as Mafuyu Sato (guitarist and vocalist), Yūma Uchida as Ritsuka Uenoyama (guitarist), Masatomo Nakazawa as Haruki Nakayama (bassist), and Takuya Eguchi as Akihiko Kaji (drummer).
The dub is directed by David Wald based on the scripts from Marissa Lenti. The English cast includes Brandon McInnis as Mafuyu Satou, Josh Grelle as Ritsuka Uenoyama, Y. Chang as Haruki Nakayama, and Jonah Scott as Akihiko Kaji.

Plot Concept: Somehow, the guitar that he used to love to play and the basketball games that he found so fun just lost their appeal…
That was until Ritsuka Uenoyama randomly met Mafuyu Sato. Ritsuka had started losing his passion for music in his everyday life, but then he hears Mafuyu sing for the first time. The song resonates with his heart and the distance between them starts to change.
