Back in 2021, Seven Seas Entertainment announced the license acquisition of the manga series My Deer Friend Nokotanby Oshioshio. The property began in 2019 and was serialized in Shounen Magazine Edge with four volumes produced so far in Japan. Masahiko Ota is set to direct ti from the series composition by Takashi Aoshima. Ayumu Tsujimura is handling the character designs with Wit Studio on the animation production.
With a July 7th, 2024 premiere ahead of it, the production recently revealed that it’ll be streamed by Crunchyroll, Prime Video, and ADN but they also reveal that there are a lot more and that the series will be available to services that will give it the reach of over 140 countries when all is said and done.
Now, they’ve rolled out a new commercial spot as we get closer to its debut and this one leans into the weird side that will definitely attract a certain kind of fan. With the motto “Humanity, aim to be deer,” we continue to challenge ourselves to create a peaceful world.

- Chinatsu Akasaki as Chiharu Tsubameya
The main cast will perform the opening theme song as a group called Deer Club with “Shikairo Days.” The ending theme song is “Shika-senbei no Uta” as performed by Megumi Han and Saki Fujita.

Plot Concept: Torako thought she had successfully buried a wild past to become a normal high school honors student, with none of her classmates aware of her delinquent roots. But that all changes when she discovers Nokotan, a new transfer student with antlers, tangled up in power lines and being attacked by birds! Is Nokotan an elk, a girl, or something in-between? Whatever she is, Torako may regret helping her, since Nokotan can smell the former delinquent on her. Now a punky past and a monster girl have crashed into Torako’s life in this hilarious (and chaotic) high school comedy!
