Originally serialized in Comic Kairakuten from the June 2024 installment, Body Research is a twenty-page story from creator Souseki who has over a dozen other works on the service This marked my latest experience with this particular creator as I was looking through new releases looking for something, anything, that didn’t involve high school characters for a bit. I really enjoyed the first couple of works I read of theirs as they delivered not only a hot experience as one wants from hentai but it did it through great character material in the script and setup and then through the artwork to capitalize on all of that. So with all that in mind, I was excited to have new material to dig into with this story and that it comes in at as many pages as it does.

With this story, we’re introduced to Ayase and Iwama, two people who work for a dating app company that focuses on creating marriage connections. Both are good at their job and Iwama is definitely impressed with how talented she is and has quite a quiet crush on her. When they talk late one evening about the problems that all apps are facing with people trying to find good people on it – since they’re often the people that aren’t on apps – she shows him some of what she goes through. He doesn’t take it as a sign in particular but we see him struggle about whether he should shoot his shot here. And he does, setting up a profile on one of the services and trying to connect with her. Both know who it is when they go through the process and when they meet so it’s a cute kind of thing in how it comes together. They’re both light and playful adults here in all the right ways.

While Iwama suggests a place to go to for lunch, Ayase makes it clear that since they obviously know each other and have lunched many times, they’re skipping a few steps and just get decadent with an afternoon that turns into an evening of intimacy. This is just absolutely delightful as the two of them interact with each other from the simplicity of undressing – with really nice date outfits – to all kinds of writhing and movements that are just intense. The playful banter helps a lot because they each know each other well and that makes them a lot more at ease with each other even though this is their first time being intimate. And that senes of connection really is there with how it unfolds and you can feel that spark pretty intensely once she grabs his hand and takes him to the hotel. It’s playful in all the right ways but balances it with some thoroughly intense moments.

In Summary
This is certainly the dream scenario for many in trying to find that connection with someone that you know and like and can believe it can be so much more. Iwama shoots his shot while hoping it doesn’t mess anything else up but he can at least play it off as just a playful joke if it falls short. But what we get is two adults taking a chance and having an absolutely great time that can lead to so much more. You want to see all elements of this as it develops into a relationship, to get much more of the intimate moments but also just to see them date, navigate work, and learn more about each other along the way. This is just a delight with some absolutely gorgeous artwork.
