A new manga series got underway earlier this year with the Onigoroshi no Gadou Saien property from writer Kei Azumi and artist Shimeii Yukiyama. The first volume is now scheduled for a June 27th, 2024 premiere with its page count still to be revealed and the cover artwork is to the right. The property is serialized in Shounan Gangan for Square Enix and is unfortunately not available in English yet.
Azumi made their debut with the 2012 novel Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy while Yukiyama made their debut in 2015 with the manga Ginrou Bloodborne.
Gangan is a manga imprint owned by Square Enix Holdings. It originated as a manga imprint for Enix before the company re-branded as Square Enix. It publishes manga in several anthologies aimed at different reader demographic groups in the Japanese market.
Plot Concept: It seems to have been suddenly carved into the body of a living creature. The engraved humans became able to handle special powers, the world was plunged into confusion due to the magnitude of their power.
Half a century after the appearance of the runes… Yusuke, who has been exterminating evil demons as a heroic “Oni-killer” of Japan, achieves the conditions of his own rune, “The Book of Chudo,” and obtains the skill to return to the past. All in order to save his precious friends who were lost in the defeat of the Lamia Queen about 30 years ago.
