2 min read

Konosuba Crunchyroll HeaderThe anime series Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! is getting some new material as we previously knew. With a third season announced back in 2022, they’ve focused more on the other series and getting things moving on this one in the background. The show has revealed a few details over the last few months but is now formalizing a bit more.

The new season recently set an April 2024 premiere for it as part of the spring season with Crunchyroll picking it up ahead of its April 10th, 2024 premiere date. With the eighth episode coming up on May 29th, 2024, the production has revealed its first preview of it.

The season features the new theme songs with Machico performing the opening theme song “Growing Up” while the main cast of Sora Amamiya, Rie Takahashi, and Ai Kayano will perform the ending theme song “Ano Hi no Mama no Bokura.”

The series is animated at Studio DEEN with Takaomi Kansaki directing based on scripts by Makoto Uezeu and character designs by Kouichi Kikuta.

The cast includes Jun Fukushima as Kazuma Satou, Sora Amamiya as Aqua, Rie Takahashi as Megumin, Ai Kayano as Raratina Dustiness Ford, Sayuri Hara as Luna, Tetsu Inada as Ruffian, Ayaka Suwa as Chris, Takuya Eguchi as Kyouya Mitsurugi, Hiroki Yasumoto as Beldia Dullahan and Yui Horie as Wiz.

The new cast additions for the third season include Kanon Takao as Iris, Sayuri Yahagi as Claire, and Reina Ueda as Rain.

The original work comes from writer Akatsuki Natsume with illustrations by Mishima Kurone. The book began in the fall of 2013 and has eight volumes released so far. It also got the expected manga adaptation along the way with Masahito Watari illustrating that starting back in September 2014, which was one of the clues that this was likely going to get an anime adaptation.

Plot concept: After a traffic accident, Kazuma Sato’s disappointingly brief life was supposed to be over, but he wakes up to see a beautiful girl before him. She claims to be a goddess, Aqua, and asks if he would like to go to another world and bring only one thing with him. Kazuma decides to bring the goddess herself, and they are transported to a fantasy world filled with adventure, ruled by a demon king. Now Kazuma only wants to live in peace, but Aqua wants to solve many of this world’s problems, and the demon king will only turn a blind eye for so long…
