Makoto Shinkai saw solid success with his most recent work, Weathering With You, and has built up quite the filmography over the years. Announced late last year, a new film is set for the fall of 2022 with Suzume no Tojimari, which translates as Suzume’s Door-Locking. We learned previously that the film saw a November 11th, 2022 Japanese premiere date.

The film saw Crunchyroll bring it out theatrically previously and last year saw them bringing out for streaming on their service. Recently, Netflix has added it to their service worldwide where it’s available in both Japanese and English along with English subtitles as well as English and Japanse closed-captions.

Now, they’re doing some clips from the film! Get caught up in a wild chair chase with Suzume and Souta as they pursue Daijin! It’s not something you get to see every day.

Plot Concept: On the other side of the door, was time in its entirety—

17-year-old Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu when she encounters a young man who tells her, “I’m looking for a door.” What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of ruins as though it was shielded from whatever catastrophe struck. Seemingly mesmerized by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob…

Doors begin to open one after another all across Japan, unleashing destruction upon any who are near. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster.

The stars
The sunset
The morning sky
Within that realm, it was as though all time had melted together in the sky—

Drawn in by this mysterious door, Suzume’s journey is about to begin.
