
Announced in June 2023, an anime adaptation of The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases got the nod. With plans for an April 2024 debut revealed last year, the official production recently saw an April 1st, 2024 premiere date. Happinet is handling the distribution of the show in Japan on home video and they’ve opted for a couple of box sets for it. The show is being released in two box sets of six episodes each starting on July 26th, 2024 where the DVD sets are priced at 17,000 yen and the Blu-ray sets at 18,000 yen each. The anime adaptation has Kazuomi Koga as the director working from the series scripts by Yoshiki Okusa. Saori Hosoda is handling the character designs while Studio DEENxMarvy Jack is on board for the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Shouta Aoi as Allen, Akari Kitō as Anriette, Minami Kurisaka as Riese, Sora Amamiya as Noel, Aimi as Mylene, Megumi Han as Beatrice, Mariya Ise as Akira, Takehito Koyasu as Craig, Ryota Ohsaka as Brett, and Kōki Koyasu as Curtis.
Shota Aoi will be performing the opening theme song “Evolve.”
The light novels from writer Shin Kozuki and illustrator Chocoan which began in 2018 and has five volumes out so far. Known originally as Dekisokonai to Yobareta Moto Eiyū wa, Jikka Kara Tsuihōsareta node Suki Katte ni Ikiru Koto ni Shita, a manga launched in 2019 that has seven volumes out with Karasumaru adapting the light novels.
