What They Say
Tonight we’re switching roles.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Originally appearing in the May 2024 installment of Comic Kaairakuten, this chapter comes from the Hiramaru Akira clocks in at twenty-two pages. They’ve got just three other works on the service over the past year or so and that makes them an easy creator to check out if you like one of their stories. While looking for something new to check out, the main visual for it was interesting and sometimes that’s all you need – plus a quick check of the tags. The visual appeal was a lot of the draw since it felt like it had an interesting vibe to it but sometimes just something like a nicely illustrated coat in a visual can make you want to see more since it shows a sense of style and paying attention to things. Anyone can draw a school uniform and get creative with that, but give me some real-world clothes and you’ve got my interest.

The premise for this is interesting as we get a young couple together where she’s certainly tiny. He’s got some bulk to him but her smaller size makes him seem even bigger. The two have a good relationship by all accounts and he’s careful with her while also making sure that she’s pleasured well by him. But he’s also got a few things that he hasn’t revealed about himself yet and that has him being careful in a different way when they’re together. The story doesn’t give us a lot to go on with their relationship in general beyond that they’re quite close and good together, but we basically see him treating her right at the start and wanting to enjoy some quality time with her Kohaku before she switches gears on him and wants the focus to be all about pleasing him. It’s clear that he derives a lot of his pleasure from her being happy but she wants to reciprocate.

This becomes a really interesting encounter not because of their size disparity, which I’m sure can be misread for other things in general, but because it’s a good sequence with him giving up some form of control but still unable to admit what he really wants. She does realize along the way that a lot of what he does with her as the focus is him doing what he wants himself – and that’s normal and natural and couples grow from that as a baseline of sorts. With her understanding that, she begins to really take care of him in a really fun way that you don’t see too often in a lot of manga like this, especially as he continues to hold back some. She’s more upfront with her dialogue about this and wanting to treat him special and make him happy so there’s a lot of making sure he knows he’s safe in this environment. And she does take care of him incredibly well and you wish it would go the distance or get a sequel to see him give himself over to her completely in trust of her.

In Summary
There’s definitely more story and more interesting encounters ahead for this couple and it’s one that I do hope we get to see more of. There are a lot of interesting visuals just because of the size differences here and having known a lot of very short women in my life there are definitely things that come up in how they get treated because of it, regardless of age. The interactions and dynamics between this couple are great to watch play out and the artwork from Hiramaru is solid throughout with some good nods toward the physical differences and a nice couple of touches when it comes to outfit design and the like. Definitely giving them a follow in hopes of them dealing more with older characters.
