A new anime adaptation from the light novel front was announced in July 2022 with Days With My Stepsister. The series comes from writer Ghost Mikawa with illustrations by Hiten and the original announcement brought out a few details at the time. With it set for a July 2024 premiere recently, the latest update is a bit of a domestic one and on the manga itself. Yen Press had previously scheduled a May 21st, 2024 release for the first volume of the manga adaptation of the light novels but now it’s been pushed back to a July 2nd, 2024 release. Which may be smart in that they’ll be bringing it out just as the anime adaptation itself arrives.

The anime adaptation is directed by Takehiro Ueno with Mitsutaka Hirota working on the series composition. Manabu Nii is handling the character designs with Studio Deen on the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Kōhei Amasaki as Yuta Asamura
  • Yuki Nakashima as Saki Ayase
  • Minori Suzuki as Shiori Yomiuri
  • Daiki Hamano as Tomokazu Maru
  • Ayu Suzuki as Narasaka Maaya
  • Chikahiro Kobayashi as Taichi Asamura
  • Reina Ueda as Akiko Ayase

The light novel series from Ghost Mikawa began in 2021 and has six volumes out as of August 2022.

Plot Concept: Yuta Asamura, whose parent remarried when he was in high school, gains a new beautiful younger stepsister, Saki Ayase. Saki is also the #1 student in her grade. Both of them have some knowledge of male-female relationships through their parents, and in order to not cause discord in the family, they agree to be not too confrontational but not too compromising either, with a moderate amount of distance between them. Saki is starved for familial love but repeatedly tries to be alone, and Yuta is bewildered at how to be a proper older brother. They gradually learn to become comfortable with each other.
