One of the things that you can often track with a lot of manga that end up getting anime adaptations it atht the manga gets teased for a big announcement. While not guaranteed, it’s usually a precursor of some kind of adaptation. That label is now being applied to the manga series Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms where it’s set for some important news with the May 15th, 2024 installment of Weekly Shonen Magazine that’s marked as 24/2024. The manga that week is also getting a color page which ups its importance a bit.

Known originally as Kuroiwa Medaka ni Watashi no Kawaii ga Tsuujinai, it began in 2021 in the magazine for Kodansha and has fourteen volumes out so far. It’s released digitally in English with eleven volumes so far while six print volumes have been released as well.

Kuze’s first published work was in 2011 with Tenjin – World War Angle and they’ve had half a dozen other titles since then.

Weekly Shōnen Magazine is a weekly shōnen manga anthology published on Wednesdays in Japan by Kodansha, first published on March 17, 1959. The magazine is mainly read by an older audience, with a significant portion of its readership falling under the male high school or college student demographic.

Plot Concept: Kuroiwa Medaka was born in a temple and is currently a monk in training. Because of his temple’s rules, he can’t interact with girls – and what’s more, he doesn’t even know how to regularly socialize with them. Mona, the “queen bee” of the school, however insistently tries to make him fall in love with her, but he always ignores her in order to maintain the rules of his temple.
