A new anime adaptation was announced in September 2023 with the light novel series Re:Monster. With a spring 2024 premiere, Pony Canyon has revealed that they’re handling the home video releases for it in Japan. They’ve set a four-volume release for the twelve-episode series with three episodes per disc. It’ll be on Blu-ray only where each volume is priced at 10,000 yen beginning on June 19th, 2024, and wrapping up on September 25th, 2024. The show has Takayuki Inagaki to direct it from the series composition by Hiroshi Yamaguchi. Junichi Takaoka is handling the character designs with Studio DEEN on the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Takuya Satō as Gobrou, Kenta Hosoda as Gobkichi, Ai Kakuma as Gobmi, Kana Ueda as Gobe, Mai Kanno as The Redhead, Aya Yamane as Hobsei, Nichika Omori as Hobsato, Hibiku Yamamura as Twins, Miyuri Shimabukuro as The Blacksmith, Hisako Tōjō as The Alchemist, and Nene Hieda as Rubilia.
The series features “Into the Fire” as performed by CHANSUNG(2PM) & AK-69 feat.CHANGMIN(2AM) as its theme song. EverdreaM will be performing the ending theme song “Sadame” for it.
The novels began in 2011 by writer Kogitsune Kanekiru and artist Yamaada and it has nine volumes out so far while listed as ongoing. The manga was licensed by Seven Seas back in 2016. “Re:Monster falls into the increasingly popular category of a hero reborn into an RPG-like world,” said Seven Seas’ publisher Jason DeAngelis. “Much like Mushoku Tensei, Overlord, or Sword Art Online, a young man is transported into a fantasy world to begin a new life, but in Re:Monster, he’s reborn as a goblin—a very, very hungry goblin. With strong artwork and a unique story, it’s sure to be a winner.”
