
A new TV anime was announced in August 2023 with the Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru manga is in production. The show saw an April 7th, 2024 premiere and Crunchyroll made their pickup of the show for a same-day simulcast. It’ll be available to viewers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.
The latest update as the show is underway is that Japanese production partner Kadokawa has shown off a new promo for the home video release that we’ll be putting together the details of later. Check out how they’re promoting it.
Masayoshi Nishida is directing it from the series composition by Yukie Sugawara. Nagisa Takahashi is handling the character designs with Gekko handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Mamiko Noto as Ine Saitō (Baa-san)
- Shinichiro Miki as Shōzō Saitō (Jii-san)
- Nao Tōyama as Shiori Saitō
- Shiori Mikami as Mino Saitō
- Junta Terashima as Shōta, Mino’s classmate
- Kazuyuki Okitsu as Yoshiaki, Mino’s father
- Tomo Sakurai as Kaede, Mino’s mother
The show features the opening theme song “Kimi ga Ojiichan Atashi ga Obaachan” by Koresawa and the ending theme song “Soitoge YO-YO!!” from Mamiko Noto and Shinichiro Miki.
The manga comes from Kagiri Araido which began in 2019 on pixiv. Kadokawa releases it in print with seven volumes out as of August 2023.

Plot Concept: The comedy manga centers on an old husband and wife who live a quiet life in Aomori harvesting apples. One day, they wake up and find their physical age restored to their 20s.
