Localized as Classroom of the Elite, Media Factory previously set the home video release for the summer 2017 anime adaptation of the Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu light material. The twelve-episode series saw a four-volume DVD and Blu-ray release that began on October 4th, 2017 where the DVDs are priced at 8,000 yen each while the Blu-rays are at 9,000 yen each. The second season was previously scheduled with an October 26th, 2022 start date and it mirrors the pricing of the first season.
The third season was scheduled back at the end of December 2023 but as we get closer to the launch of the home video releases, which mirrors the pricing above, the season is being pushed back a month as you can see from the new dates below. Check out the known details below!
The series was directed by Seiji Kishi and Hiroyuki Hashimoto based on the series composition by Aoi Akashiro. Kazuaki Morita is on board to work on the character designs with studio Lerche handling the animation production.
The series comes from writer Shougo Kinugasa and artist Shunsaku Tomose that began in May 2015 with new volumes hitting regularly.
Plot Concept: Kōdo Ikusei Senior High School, a leading prestigious school with state-of-the-art facilities where nearly 100% of students go on to university or find employment. The students there have the freedom to wear any hairstyle and bring any personal effects they desire. Kōdo Ikusei is a paradise-like school, but the truth is that only the most superior of students receive favorable treatment. The protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokōji is a student of D-class, which is where the school dumps its “inferior” students in order to ridicule them. For a certain reason, Kiyotaka was careless on his entrance examination, and was put in D-class. After meeting Suzune Horikita and Kikyō Kushida, two other students in his class, Kiyotaka’s situation begins to change. Based from the popular light novel series of the same name!
