2 min read

With wildly divergent critics and audiences scoring over the last few days, the release of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire from Warner Bros. has landed with a $80 million domestic take and another $114 million overseas for a $194 million worldwide debut. The data points to the film getting 5.5 million admissions for its run and it helps to get the film series across the $2 billion mark as this is the fifth entry.

Once past that, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire drops 65% in its second weekend for a $15.7 million take, bringing it to $73.4 million.

Dune: Part Two had another good hold with a 37% drop from the previous week to bring in another $11.1 million, bringing its domestic take to $252.3 million since opening at the beginning of March.

Other than Kung Fu Panda 4, which is serving an underserved kids market, the rest of the films at at $3.2 million or under, including a few new small films in limited release that have charted since there’s a limited slate of new films arriving.
