The Dungeon Meshi series, known as Delicious in Dungeon in its English release, comes from creator Ryoko Kui as serialized in Harta magazine since 2014. The eleventh volume of the series landed in September 2021 and revealed that it was entering the climax phase of its run. With fans not expecting an anime adaptation – though they really wanted one after a teaser commercial came out in 2019 – their wishes were answered.
With some updates and promos for a while now, the series is set for January through June as a two-cour consecutive series with a January 4th, 2023 premiere for it. The official site is now doing some new promotion for the series with the third formal trailer for the show as we wrap up the first cour of it this week.
The series features the opening theme song “Sleep Walking Orchestra” from BUMP OF CHICKEN while the ending song is Party!!” by Ryoku Oushoku Shakai.
The series has Yoshihiro Miyajima directing it from the scripts overseen by Kimiko Ueno. Naoki Takeda is working on the character designs with Trigger handling the animation production.

Plot Concept: It’s eat or be eaten… literally!
When young adventurer Laios and his company are attacked and soundly thrashed by a dragon deep in a dungeon, the party loses all its money and provisions…and a member! They’re eager to go back and save her, but there is just one problem: If they set out with no food or coin to speak of, they’re sure to starve on the way! But Laios comes up with a brilliant idea: “Let’s eat the monsters!” Slimes, basilisks, and even dragons…none are safe from the appetites of these dungeon-crawling gourmands!
