‘The Fable’ Anime Adaptation Expands Cast & Sets Premiere Date Via Disney+

The manga-to-anime pipeline continues as the series The Fable is getting a TV adaptation. Announced in July 2023, the official site previously brought out some solid information about the production. With a good bit of details out previously for this spring 2024 series that’s set for NHK, the latest update for the two consecutive cour series has come in revealing an April 6th, 2025 premiere. Additionally, a number of new characters have been cast and worldwide streaming on Disney+ has been formalized as well.

The newly added cast includes:

  • Kouji Ishii as Hiroshi Hamada (Oyaji)
  • Ryōta Iwasaki as Kuroshio (Kuro)
  • Yudai Mino as Katsuya Takahashi
  • Koujirou Takahashi as Shūichi Sunagawa
  • Kiyomitsu Mizuuchi as Matsu
  • Takeharu Ōnishi as Kenjirō Takōda (President Octopus)
  • Takumi Asahina as Etsuji Kainuma
  • Kazuya Ichijou as Master
  • Yūki Kaji as Yūki Kawai (Be Daiyocha)

The adaptation has Ryosuke Takahashi directing it from the scripts written and overseen by Yuya Takashima with Mayumi Morita writing as well. Hisama Kinoshita, Saki Hasegawa, and Junichi Hayama are on board for the character designs with Tezuka Productions handling the animation.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Kazuyuki Okitsu as Akira Satō
  • Kenjiro Tsuda as Kojima
  • Miyuki Sawashiro as Yōko Satō
  • Tetsuo Komura as Boss
  • Kana Hanazawa as Misaki Shimizu
  • Jun Fukushima as Jackal Tomioka
  • Akio Ohtsuka as Takeshi Ebihara

The manga comes from Katsuhisa Minami which began in 2014 and wrapped up in 2019 with twenty-two volumes. It was serialized in Weekly Young Magazine for Kodansha and the property is getting an English release digitally through Kodansha Comics.
