A light novel series getting a manga adaptation isn’t a huge sign as to its future in terms of possible anime material but it certainly doesn’t hurt as it gets the property in front of more eyes. The light novel series Whirlwind Rust – The Mercenary Life of a Girl in Adversity and the Chronicles of the Unruly Heroes on the Western Frontier is now slated for a manga adaptation that will begin on February 16th, 2024 through the Comic Nova Web service. It’s being adapted by Oshima Kaworu.
Known originally as Senpuu no Rust – Gyakkyou Shoujo no Youhei Life to, Burai Eiketsu-tachi no Seihou Kokkyou Senki, it comes from writer Keigo Mikaze with artwork by Peperon which began in April 2023 and has one volume out so far.
Plot Concept: Warfare Fantasy about a teenage girl who becomes a mercenary in war to pay for her mother’s medical bills. Thrown into a world dominated by men and their strength, she uses the help of her special skill to try and stand equal next to her powerful mercenary companions and earn enough money with this new life.
