Essay manga aren’t exactly a huge subgenre but it’s an interesting one with some neat titles over the years, most of which don’t end up getting licensed, unfortunately. A new one has kicked off in Japan this weekend with My Home – The Story of a Manga Artist Couple Who Ended Up Having to Pay a Penalty of 4.8 Million Yen After Buying Their Home. The new series comes from Shiori and is available on the Comic Days Web service here.
Known originally as My Home o katta Mangaka fuufu ga, iyakukin 480 man-en harau hame ni natta hanashi, Shiori had their first published work in 2009 with Hatsukoi Lunch Box and their most recent title was 2021’s Cat on the Hero’s Lap which ran for four volumes.
