Crunchyroll Adds ‘Rising of The Shield Hero’ Anime With Arabic & Castilian Dubs

With the popularity of Rising of the Shield Hero and the ongoing manga and spinoff material out there, it wasn’t a big surprise during Crunchyroll Expo 2019 that we learned there would be more. That they announced both a second and a third season, which was definitely surprising at the time. With an April 6th, 2022 premiere for the second season series, Crunchyroll brought out the show with its simulcast and then a simuldub.

The production recently revealed an October 6th, 2023 premiere date specifically across various networks and with Crunchyroll set to simulcast it as well. , Crunchyroll previously got the English dub underway and then started up three more dubs for it. The streamer has added the first episode in Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian with new episodes going live on Fridays at 4:30 pm ET.

Now, the streamer has updated the language options for the show a bit. First, the second season has been added with the Castilian dub in full while the second and third seasons have been added with the Arabic dub in full for both seasons..

The German dub is directed by Birte Bumgardt at Oxygen Sound Studios from scripts by Philip Gaube. The German dub cast includes:

The French dub is directed by Delphine Chauvier from the scripts by Laudivine Marcvalter at Iyuno Blegium studio. The French dub cast include:

  • Catherine Hanotiau as Metly Q. Melromarc

The first season of the series was directed by Takao Abe while the second season is directed by Masatao Jinbo based on the series composition by Keigo Koyanagi. Masahiro Suwa served as the character designer with Kinema Citrus handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Kaito Ishikawa as Naofumi Iwatani, the Shield Hero, Asami Seto as Raphtalia, a demi-human, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ren Amaki, the Sword Hero, Makoto Takahashi as Motoyasu Kitamura, the Spear Hero, Yoshitaka Yamaya as Itsuki Kawasumi, the Bow Hero, Rina Hidaka as Firo, Maaya Uchida as Melty, Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Myne, Yutaka Nakano as Aultcray Melromarc XXXII, and Hiroki Yasumoto as Elhart.

The new cast additions for the third season include Ami Koshimizu as Nadia, Kōhei Amasaki as Fohl, Konomi Kohara as Atla, and Maria Naganawa as S’yne.

The English dub has Lucien Dodge as the ADR director working from scripts by Henry Mason. The English cast includes Stephen Fu as Naofumi Iwatani, Alice Himora as Nadia, Brianna Knickerbocker as Filo, Jackie Lastra as Melty Q. Melromarc, Katelyn Gault as Mirelia Q. Melromarc, Kieran Regan as Fohl, Kimlinh Tran as Keel, Kira Buckland as Rishia Ivyred/Shadow, Taylor Henry as Aultcray Melromarc XXXII, Alexander Gross as Yuji, Frank Todaro as Slave Merchant, and Imari Williams as Elhart.

For the third season, MADKID will perform the opening theme song “SIN”  while Chiai Fujikawa will perform the ending theme song “Suki ni Natte wa Ikenai Riyu.”

The series has been going on since 2012 in print after starting off as a web novel. With a manga adaptation that’s being released in English by One Peace Books, the novels come from writer Yusagi Aneko with illustrations by Seira Minami and the manga version is adapted by Kyu Aiya.

Plot Concept: Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a parallel world along with 3 other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned, Naofumi received the Legendary Shield as his weapon. Due to Naofumi’s lack of charisma and experience he’s labeled as the weakest, only to end up betrayed, falsely accused, and robbed by on the third day of adventure. Shunned by everyone from the king to peasants, Naofumi’s thoughts were filled with nothing but vengeance and hatred. Thus, his destiny in a parallel World begins…
