A TV anime adaptation was slotted for 2023 with the announcement of Norio Sakurai’s The Dangers in My Heart. The Japanese side saw an April 1st, 2023 premiere date for it and a second season is underway in production. HIDIVE handled the series for its simulcast which wrapped up at the end of June and recently HIDIVE scheduled plans for the English dub. As part of the AMC Networks breakdown of what to expect from the company, they’re now including HIDIVE information in it, and back in July we learned it had an August 26th, 2023 premiere date set for the dub.
Catching up a bit on something we missed, HIDIVE released a fun dub clip from the sixth episode of the series below where Ichikawa tries to read Yamada’s manga. Meanwhile, Adachi wonders what’s going on between Ichikawa and Yamada.
The English dub saw John Swasey directing it with a cast that includes:

- Shelley Calene-Black as Ichikawa’s Mother
- Jade Kelly as Igarashi

Hiroaki Akagi is directing it from the scripts overseen by Jukki Hanada. Masato Katsumata is working on the character designs for it with Shinei Animation handling the production.
The Japanese cast includes Shun Horie as Kyotaro Ichikawa, Hina Yomiya as Anna Yamada, Ayaka Asai as Chihiro Kobayashi, Megumi Han as Moeko Sekine, Atsumi Tanezaki as Serina Yoshida, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Sho Adachi, Gen Sato as Kenta Kanzaki, Jun Fukushima as Chikara Ota, Aki Toyosaki as Honoka Hara, Yukari Tamura as Kana Ichikawa, and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Haruya Nanjō.
The opening theme is “shayo” from yorushika while Kohana Lam performs “Su Sentimental” as the ending theme song.
Known originally as Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu, the manga began in 2018 in Weekly Shonen Champion magazine and currently has seven volumes out as of August 2022. Seven Seas Entertainment releases it in English and has four volumes out so far.
Plot Concept: Fascinated by murder and all things macabre, Kyotaro fantasizes about acting on his twisted thoughts to the detriment of his classmates. His heart was dark until an encounter with Anna lit a spark within it in a classic tale of antisocial boy meets popular girl. Now they must both navigate a blossoming relationship and defy the expectations they have of each other and themselves.
