A new anime adaptation was announced in April 2023 for the fall with the manga property Dekoboko Majo no Oyako Jijō getting the nod. The fifth volume of the series from Piroya revealed plans for a fall 2023 TV debut at the time. The manga began in 2019 through Comic Meteor and there is no English release at this point.
Localized as The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch, King Records has scheduled the home video side for it. The show is getting done as a complete Blu-ray box set priced at 32,000 yen when it arrives on March 13th, 2023. It’ll be spread across two discs and come with an original soundtrack CD as well.
With the set still quite awhile away, we now have a look at some of the cover art pieces that have been released below. We’ll have a better idea of the set when the finalized packaging spread is revealed presumably early next year.
The series has Masahiro Takata directing it from the scripts by HyroKnuckle. Miwa Yoshida is handling the character designs with A-Real on the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Nana Mizuki as Viola, Aoi Koga as Alissa, Takaya Hashi as Phoenix, Romi Park as Lyra, Yō Taichi as Giriko, Akira Sekine as Luna, Takayuki Kondō as Fennel, Daisuke Ono as Grinde, Katsuyuki Konishi as Pond, Junichi Suwabe as Auri, and Ikue Ōtani as Doku-Koala.
Nana Mizuki performed “Sugar Doughnuts” for the opening theme while angela performed “Welcome!” for the ending theme.
Plot Concept: The show deals with Alissa, who is a witch who lives alone in a forest. One day she finds a human baby, and she names her Viola. Alissa raises Viola for 16 years, but Viola grows beyond even Alissa’s imagination. The comedy series focuses on the parent-and-child relationship where appearances are deceiving as to who is the parent and who is the child.
