‘The Legend of Zelda’ Live-Action Film In Development

1 min read
With the popularity of Sonic the Hedgehod and then Super Mario Bros, this should be no surprise.

While I would have preferred a two-track approach of a good cg/anime feature film and a live-action film being developed, it’s no surprise that we’re finally at this point with The Legend of Zelda starting to move forward. A live-action film is being put together with Sony that will be co-financed by Nintendo who will be putting in for more than 50% of it.

The film is in development now with Derek Connolly working on the screenplay with Wes Ball serving as the director. Ball has a lot of attention on him with the start of the upcoming new push with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes out next year. No details were revealed regarding what story concept they’d be working with for it.

The Legend of Zelda will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, Representative Director and Fellow of Nintendo, and Avi Arad, Chairman of Arad Productions.

The announced cast includes:
