The first season of B-Project aired during the summer 2016 season and the second season landed as part of the winter 2019 season as B-Project: Summit Emotion. Things went well with the merchandising and other avenues for this multimedia project as a third season of the series was announced in November 2020. But it’s been quiet since then.
We learned in May 2023 that things have been percolating slowly behind the scenes as the third season was set for a fall 2023 debut in October as B-Project ~Netsuretsu*Love Call~. The main staff is coming back as you can see below with Asahi Production taking over the animation production.
With an October 2nd, 2203 broadcast debut, Crunchyroll previously confirmed their pickup of the property. But they weren’t the only one as Prime Video has also revealed their pickup of it with the first episode also going live yesterday on the service, giving viewers more options on where to check it out.
The second season changed things up with its staffing as we learned previously that Makoto Moriwaki is stepping in to direct it instead of Eiji Suganuma who handled the first season. Nozomu Oshima is working on the series composition with MAGES while Yumiko Hara is on board for the character designs. Shou Kawashima and Takahiro Yasuda are serving as the chief animation directors for it with BN Pictures handling the production.
The cast for the show includes Daisuke Ono as Tomohisa Kitakado, Daisuke Kishio as Ryuuji Korekuni, Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Goushi Kaneshiro, Natsuki Hanae as Yuuta Ashuu, Kazuki Kato as Kento Aizome, Yuto Uemura as Kazuna Masunaga, Tetsuya Kakihara as Momotarou Onzai, Showtaro Morikubo as Hikaru Oosari, Genki Okawa as Tatsuhiro Tome, Toshiki Masuda as Mikado Sekimura, Yumiri Hanamori as Tsubasa Sumisora, Kousuke Toriumi as Sakutarou Yashamaru, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Atsushi Daikoku and Daisuke Namikawa as Shuuji Daikoku.
The first season saw A-1 Pictures producing the animation, Eiji Suganuma directed it with Akira Satou as the assistant director. Deko Akao worked on the series composition with the MAGES production team. Toshie Kawamura served as the character designer and chief animation director.
