A new anime adaptation is in the works for the winter 2024 season with Sengoku Youko. We’ve had a good bit of information revealed about it when it was announced and now we’ve got some more. The latest update brings us a new round of character additions while also bringing out four new character promos.
The newly added cast includes:
- Kenji Nomura as Jinun
- Aki Toyosaki as Nau
- Tetsu Inada as Dōren
- Kazuki Miyagi as Resshin
- Ayahi Takagaki as Yama no Kami
- Aina Suzuki as Rinzu
- Kenjiro Tsuda as Yazen
- Hiroki Tōchi as Raidō Zanzō
The anime has Masahiro Aizawa directing it from the series composition and scripts by Jukki Hanada. Yosuke Okuda is handling the character designs with White Fox on the animation production. The show has a three-cour schedule with each cour adapting one of the three main arcs of the manga.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Soma Saito as Jinka
- Yuki Takada as Tama
- Ryohei Kimura as Shinsuke
- Tomoyo Kurasawa as Shakugan
- Hiroki Nanami as Senya
- Maaya Uchida as Tsukiko
The manga from Satoshi Mizukami began in 2007 and wrapped up in 2016 with seventeen volumes total as serialized in Comic Garden. TOKYOPOP brought the property out in English.

Plot Concept: The world is divided into two factions: humans and monsters called katawara. Despite being a katawara, Tama loves humans and vows to protect them from evil, even if it means fighting her own kind. Her stepbrother Jinka, however, hates humans, despite mostly being one. The siblings are joined by a cowardly swordsman named Shinsuke, who wants to learn how to become strong.
The people they meet, places they see, and creatures they battle will be legendary!
